Collaboration: Describing dementia

I had the great privilege to join Teresa Youngstrom on episode #20 of her podcast on Memory Care. Teresa is an RN Dementia Specialist with almost 40 years of experience and she’s amazing at helping families cope with the challenges of caring for a loved one with dementia.

We had a wonderful conversation about the neuroscience of forgetting, challenges of communication and behaviors, strategies to break through the fog, and more.

Dementia can emerge from a variety of disorders, and affects a huge number of people worldwide. One of the best known causes of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease. Today, September 21, 2023 is World Alzheimer’s Day, and I encourage you to join the Alzheimer’s Association to improve communication around dementia from all causes.

This is a global effort to raise awareness and challenge the stigma around Alzheimer's disease and other dementia. Join the Alzheimer's Association as we recognize the more than 55 million people across the world who are affected by this terrible disease. Whether you fundraise for the cause, share information about Alzheimer's or talk to a loved one about dementia, you can make a difference.

While dementia can be overwhelming, and even frightening for families, it is possible to create real solutions for your loved ones with partners like Teresa Youngstrom.
